Pikitup spokesperson comments on alleged dustbin theft

The Record published CCTV footage from a Discovery street yesterday, 19 November, that appears to show a Pikitup employee removing a black municipal rubbish bin from outside a property.

Screenshots and videos were sent to Pikitup to review and Pikitup spokesperson, Muzi Mkhwanazi, had the following to say: “This will be escalated to the relevant depot. They will then need to follow the necessary investigative procedures and institute the appropriate disciplinary action”.

The public are urged to keep track of their rubbish bins and to report any suspicious actions to their nearest Pikitup depot.
