Taking a tour through Roodepoort’s best Christmas displays

Lighting up neighbourhoods across Johannesburg

Everywhere Christmas is celebrated you are sure to see homes decorated from lawn to chimney in lights and tinsel. Once just a holiday celebration, it has now turned into a neighbourhood contest and seasonal tourist attraction. Thankfully there is an organisation that curates tours of the suburbs with the most Christmas spirit.

Light Scouts offers a detailed list of the best and brightest Christmas displays. Leigh Smith of Light Scout elaborated, “We have 65 homes, split into strategically planned routes. We have a large footprint in Roodepoort, Krugersdorp, Alberton, the Northern Suburbs and Pretoria, and we are proud to announce that we have added Rustenburg to this year’s schedule”.

By registering on their website you will also be able to access a host of child-friendly Christmas content. A grand reveal of the closely guarded treats is planned for later this month, and, if the sneak peeks are anything to go by, the public’s Christmas activity list will be crammed with fun for all ages. Whether you are looking for a night-time tour of the neighbourhood’s grandest showmen or family fun to enjoy in the living room, Light Scout has it all.

It is not too late to add your home to the list of displays, so if you are a seasoned decorator or just an amateur looking to light up your street for the first time, visit www.lightscout.co.za to register. Christmas is about celebrating the light of the world and what better way to pay homage than to make your house shine brighter than the rest.
