Two accidents within a few hundred metres of each other

No fatalities but one seriously injured

Afternoon and evening rain on Saturday caused havoc on a small strip of road between Westgate and Crane Avenue, Horison. Two separate accidents involving a total of four patients were separated by only a few hours.

At roughly 5.30pm at the intersection of Crane Avenue and Ontdekkers Road, a mother and child were among three patients taken to hospital with mild to moderate injuries. A few hours later, at approximately 9.30pm, a woman had to be freed from her car by the fire department after she had rolled her automobile just outside Westgate.

Speaking on the first accident, Alett Reed of Emer-G-med confirmed, “Three patients with mild to moderate injuries were transported by Emer-G-Med and ER24″. Reed also confirmed, ”We transported one seriously injured patient from Ontdekkers Road in front of Westgate. The patient lost control of her vehicle in the rain and rolled it. She was extricated from her vehicle by the fire department”.

These two accidents, four hours and less than 500m apart, highlight the high rate of motor vehicle accidents in the area. With the silly season approaching, motorists are urged to drive cautiously and respectfully in order to ensure everyone makes it to their intended destinations.
