A statement has been issued as an alert from Eskom, informing residents that due to the network being under strain, there is a possibility of load shedding from 9am to 11pm today, 16 October. The problems in the network have reportedly been caused by generation capacity issues.

City Power has appealed to its customers not to panic and to use electricity sparingly today. Stage 2 load shedding means that 200 000kW of electricity needs to be saved.
The load shedding schedule can be accessed on the City Power website, but here is a brief summary of the blocks that will be affected.
• 9am to 12 noon – Blocks 6B and 2A
• 12 noon to 4.30pm – Blocks 7B and 3A
• 4pm to 8.30pm – Blocks 8B and 4A
• 8pm to 11pm – Blocks 1A and 5A
This power outage will not affect all areas in Roodepoort.
• The entire Ward 70 will be affected, except for the Fleurhof extensions that fall under Block 5B.
• No areas will be affected in Ward 83 as this ward is in Block 3B.
• Ward 85 will not be affected as it falls in Block 3B – as long as load shedding remains at Stage 2.
The exact information about Wards 84 and 71 has not yet been received, but an update will follow as soon as it becomes available.
