One laugh at a time to get back in shape

Has the festive season motivated you into the process of westward expansion?

The festive season is over, and the time when we all start to work on getting back into shape has arrived. After the long holiday, and four servings of the delicious Christmas dinner, we need to try to shake off a couple of kilos to start the New Year fresh.

Here are some tips that may or may not help:

Tip number one: Cut back on the sugar. Scale down on the amount of sugar in your coffee, chocolates or any other dessert. It doesn’t mean your husband or wife has to do the same thing. What do you call someone who can’t stick with a diet? A desserter.

Tip number two: Cut back on the snacks. Try not to snack on unhealthy foods between meal times.

Nutritionist: You should eat 1 200 calories a day.

Me: OK, and how many a night?

Tip number three: Try to get some exercise. Take a walk around the block or, if you can, jog around the block a few times. Take your dog for a walk, or maybe even your spouse. Helps to get some fresh air now and then. Getting your blood pumping will also start up your metabolism.

Q: What’s your favorite exercise?

A: Chewing.

I never thought I’d be the type of person who would get up early in the morning to exercise. I was right.

Tip number four: Try to cut your portions in half. Your eyes are usually bigger than your stomach. Drinking a glass of water before you eat helps you to consume less food.

I only seem to remember I want to lose weight after eating nine cookies.

Tip number five: After eating, brush your teeth. Your mind is set in such a way that when you brush your teeth, your mind will think you are full. Doing that will also help with

the late night cravings.

If we’re not meant to have midnight snacks, why is there a light in the fridge?
