Ons Huis, a Florida-based old age home, is combining two of Roodepoort’s favourite types of events (markets and potjiekos competitions) to make one extraordinary evening.

The old age home will host a Night Market and Potjiekos Competition on Friday, 1 November at Kings School Discovery, 130 Kilburn Street, Horison.

The event will feature an orchestra and entertainment from local artists such as Logan Pietersen and will raise money for the elderly residents who live with Alzheimer’s and dementia.

Entrance to the market is any toiletries or non-perishable food items, but there is an R200 fee to enter the Potjiekos Competition. The event is suitable for all ages; there will be stalls, entertainment, jumping castles and other entertainment for the children.

A maximum of six people are allowed to form a team for the Potjiekos Competition, and all entrants need to bring their own ingredients. The deadline for entry into the competition is 25 October.

This prize for the five-star reserve can accommodate a maximum of six adults and three children. Tickets to enter the name-giving competition will be sold at R150 each and the funds will go towards setting up the coffee shop.

This event will be held from 3pm to 10pm and is not to be missed.
