Florida Police spokesperson Sergeant Mpho More confirmed this afternoon via a media statement that the PEP Store on Goldman Street had been robbed today, 7 October. One suspect was shot dead and another was arrested for business robbery.

Shortly before midday today, eight males, one carrying a firearm, entered the store. Two of them attempted to get staff and customers into a store room while the other six ransacked the store. A scuffle in the store resulted in one suspect being shot dead at the scene. The robbers then fled the store but police were able to apprehend one suspect.
The robbers escaped with an undisclosed amount of money. The arrested suspect, aged 22, will appear in the Roodepoort Magistrates’ Court at a date still to be decided.
