On 26 September, the Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) released its performance statistics for August.
Across Johannesburg, the number of arrests for drunken driving increased by more than 300 in one month.
Nevertheless, the stats throughout the City showed the continued effort of the JMPD and the City to curb the growing crime trends affecting residents and businesses.
According to Executive Mayor Herman Mashaba, the monthly release of the performance statistics is a way for the JMPD to keep itself accountable.
The statistics were released as an overall result and then broken down into regions.
Roodepoort makes up part of Region C, along with Cosmo City and Clearwater and the performance statistics are as follows:
• With six operations for drunken driving, 92 DUI arrests were made.
