WATCH: Just gyming in a carpark – no big deal

With the motto 'Train Anywhere, Train Anytime, No Excuses', these women have made it easy to be healthy.

PopUpGym was founded by Letshego Zulu and Khethiwe Mlangeni as a way to prove that exercise can be done anywhere, it is not just limited to indoor areas and sports fields. With the motto ‘Train Anywhere, Train Anytime, No Excuses’, these women have made it easy to be healthy.

On Saturday, 28 September, PopUpGym held a training session in the parking lot outside Medicross The Berg. Trainers appeared on stage to guide two exciting classes with a DJ helping to keep the vibe energised.

Between sessions, interactive and meaningful conversations were had between the participants and the organisers. Trainers and PopUpGym team members spoke to the participants about health, fitness, well-being, training benefits, and injury prevention.

Health checks for blood pressure, glucose and cholesterol were also done at all the events.

The trainers spoke about teamwork and support in fitness, saying that there is no room for judgement; we all have the same goals, so why judge when we can inspire and encourage.

Saturday’s early morning gym session, which started at 7am with registration and health checks, had an impressive turnout. The first class of the day was aerobics, followed by a water break and give away, and then an upbeat and intense kickboxing class.

Smiles, laughter, and energy radiated throughout the parking lot at the event, proving that with the right environment and mindset, exercise can be fun.
