Kingfisher Learning Centre is a Horison-based school which focuses on unleashing a learner’s potential and creativity by providing a nurturing learning environment.
Towards the end of September, the school initiated a fundraising activity for Child Welfare South Africa Roodepoort. The Grade 1 to 7 learners all brought silver coins to school, which were laid out in lines according to grades. The competitive spirit of the learners was used for a good cause; the grade that made the longest line out of their coins would be crowned the winner and rewarded with ice-cream.
The Grade 4 learners took home the winning title, with a line of 5,94m in length. Together, the learners raised R2 025 with their silver coin lines and an extra R775 was donated by the parents, making it a whopping R2 800 that was taken to CWSA Roodepoort.
The Child Welfare SA Roodepoort team would like to extend a massive thank you to the teachers, learners, and parents at Kingfisher Learning Centre for their generous donation.
The charitable effort of the school has been extended even further, as Child Welfare South Africa has become their designated charity for the fourth term. During the last few months of school, the learners, teachers, and parents will collect donations for the organisation and at the end of each week, the items and funds collected will be donated.
“Our children are our future, teach them to care for others,” said CWSA Roodepoort after thanking the learning centre profusely.
