Lions Club of Wilro Park host a golf day for charity

As September is Childhood Cancer Awareness month a golf bag was raffled and all the proceeds were handed over to the Childhood Cancer Foundation South Africa (CHOC).

 

The Lions Club of Wilro Park held its Annual Lions Charity Golf Day on Thursday 5 September at the Krugersdorp Golf Club.

The day was a success and the weather, the golf course and the spirit in which the golf was played were perfect, resulting on a day that was enjoyed by all.

Much-needed funds were raised for the community service projects in which the Lions Club of Wilro Park is involved.

The projects concern vision, hunger, diabetes and environment, and one which is currently being planned is a Sensory Garden for children with Autism.

As September is Childhood Cancer Awareness month, a golf bag was raffled and all the proceeds were handed over to the Childhood Cancer Foundation South Africa (CHOC).

The winners of the golf day were announced at the prize-giving supper and prizes were handed over by convenor, Tom Burns and president of the club, Ben Diederichs.

First prize went to Doug Poole and James Cronin with a score of 45, and included bragging rights for a year! Second prize went to Wernes Cloete and Hugo Lampbrecht. The third prize was awarded to Sias Scott and Kristo Minnaar, and fourth and fifth prizes went to Len Spedding and Len Richardson, and Neels Jooste and Riaan Bosman, respectively.

President Ben Diederichs said, “The Lions Club of Wilro Park sincerely thanks everyone for their very generous support and for helping us to help others – you have all made a difference in the lives of someone less fortunate than yourself and it is much appreciated.”
