WATCH: Workshop on fire in Witpoortjie

No injuries were reported.

A business premises on Albertina Sisulu Road, in Witpoortjie, caught fire during the afternoon of 22 August.

The property is said to be a workshop and a poultry facility.

The open veld next to the workshop also caught fire.

A devastated employee at the business premises, who went down on his knees and shed tears, said he does not know what caused the fire, but he believes that someone threw down a paper which was already on fire.

“It started off as a small fire. When I saw it, I called my boss, who said he would call the Emergency Management Services (EMS) to come and he would also make his way here. I am really shattered. I do not know what to say,” said the employee.

Johannesburg Metro Police Department officials, ER24 paramedics and EMS personnel are on the scene, trying to extinguish the fire.

No injuries were reported.
