“Our schools are not the traditional set-up where you find a teacher teaching a huge number of children. Instead we use a blended approach in the form of technology that has been integrated into the schooling system to create a very rich learning environment.”
Those were the words of the CEO and co-founder of SPARK Schools, Stacey Brewer, after the official opening of SPARK Witpoortjie, one of their six educational institutions that began operating at the beginning of this year.
The prestigious inauguration function of this new school was held on Thursday, 8 August, and featured speeches from various stakeholders and the ribbon being cut.
Stacey provided insight into the school and its vision.
“SPARK Schools consists of a network of low-cost private primary and high schools operating in South Africa. We currently operate 21 schools. The reason why we started was to address the crisis that we see in education in the country. South Africa currently spends a great proportion of its budget on education, but is ranked bottom of the world. So SPARK started to provide an affordable model for the country, with the aim of serving as many communities as possible to ensure equal and high-quality education,” she explained.
