Contigency plans for Pikitup

Pikitup tries to save the day.

DA Councillor Carl Mann has contacted the Record with the roster for Pikitup’s temporary refuse removal that has taken place over the weekend of 3 July to 5 July.

The service entity could confirm that a contingency team did a round of collection from the following depots:

• Roodepoort on Saturday and Sunday

• Southdale on Saturday and Sunday

• Midrand on Saturday and Sunday

• Randburg on Friday, Saturday and Sunday

• Avelon on Saturday and Sunday

• Norwood on Friday, Saturday and Sunday

They have advised that even though rounds were concluded over the weekend, they were unable to clear the backlog created as a result of service interruptions between Monday and Friday the previous week. The team will continue servicing all areas from 8 July.

There is an operations meeting taking place to resolve issues contributing to service delivery interruptions and how best to increase capacity of the contingency team to clear the backlog more effectively. An update will be circulated for any new development, ensuring that the public is kept abreast of the situation.

Pikitup has asked to publicly apologise to all residents and businesses for the inconvenience.
