Floroma resident celebrates 100 years in style
Marge Symons celebrated her 100th birthday with a special visit
It is not every day that you get to celebrate your 100th birthday, but for Marge Symons, this milestone was an occasion she will not forget soon.
Although her birthday was actually on 18 July, friends and family members organised a big birthday party for her at the Floroma Old Age Home on 17 July.
To make her day even more special, the Speaker of the Council of the City of Johannesburg, councillor Vasco Da Gama, councillor Kevin Wax (the Chief Whip) and his spokesperson, Lillian Kolisang, took some time out of their busy schedules to visit her.
Marge could not stop smiling as councillor Da Gama toasted her, and when she received a glass of champagne from him, the smile only got wider.
All the guests had an opportunity to not only wish her a happy birthday, but also to enjoy a glass of champagne and some lovely snacks before taking on the rest of the day.
