Technical personnel from City Power are currently working on a problem affecting the Florida and Florida North Substations.
According to City Power, from all indications, a fault from one of the smaller substations tripped back and tripped the larger area.
City Power is currently preparing the breakers to start with restoration, this may still take a little while. Once they restore the supply to the transformers at Florida Substation they will start turning on one section at a time so as not to overload the grid and also to locate the fault.
Residents are urged to turn off unnecessary appliances to minimise the load when they turn back on. This will help to speed the process up.
