Conor McGregor was born on this day, 14 July, in 1988.
Conor is an Irish professional mixed martial arts practitioner (MMA) and boxer, who is ranked number three in the official UFC lightweight rankings and number nine in the official UFC pound-for-pound rankings.
He is the former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) featherweight and lightweight champion.
Conor started his MMA career in 2008 and, in 2012, he won both the Cage Warriors Featherweight and Lightweight Championships, holding both titles simultaneously before vacating them to sign with the UFC.
His professional boxing career began in 2017, where he was defeated by Floyd Mayweather during his boxing match debut.
Conor is the biggest pay-per-view (PPV) draw in MMA history, having headlined five out of the six highest-selling UFC pay-per-view events.
He was out of action for 10 months following a bout with Max Holloway. An MRI scan revealed that Conor had torn his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) during the bout and would require surgery.
In March 2019, Conor was arrested in Florida after an altercation in which he was alleged to have taken a man’s phone and smashed it on the ground. Conor was arrested and charged with strong-armed robbery and criminal mischief, but he was only held in custody for several hours and then released on bail.
