The Record caught up with Phakathi after his video trended online.
He said, “I normally focus on individuals who are in desperate need, who don’t qualify for government grants – unique cases where no one can assist.”
“I spend my time helping the poor people on the streets and I have been viewed as a friend to the destitute. I didn’t start it now, it has been done by many people but I made it look cooler, I have been telling stories all my life and this is one of the ways I tell beautiful stories of hope and love. The push to making a difference has been in my heart since day one,” said Phakathi.
He added that the stories he tells are an extension of a lifestyle that he had for some time, as well as great stories of other individuals doing great things for humanity, and that he was inspired by Dr Myles Munroe to live a purpose-driven life.
