Residents enjoy BFF’s soup

The next soup kitchen will be held on Saturday, 20 July, at the municipal flats on Corlett Avenue.

“This soup is really delicious. You guys are doing amazing work.” Those were the words of Witpoortjie residents who came to Sonop Hardware on Dirkie Uys Avenue for cup of free soup on Saturday, 6 July.

Building The Face of Our Future (BFF) held another successful soup kitchen and Yolande Opperman, the founder of the organisation, was all smiles as residents came out in their numbers to collect free soup and bread.

The vendors on the side of the road were treated to warm soup to keep them warm throughout the windy morning.

Yolande also reported on the progress they have made with their knitting project. They are knitting scarves which will be delivered to schools in and around Witpoortjie.

“We will be doing the first delivery of our knitted goods when schools reopen and our second delivery will be done at the end of July. We are still appealing to the community to come and join us in knitting. Anyone that wants to join the team can contact me on 073 147 1422,” said Yolande.
