City Power sends a warning to residents

City Power is warning residents not to allow any person, technician or contractor onto their property before verifying their credentials.

With crimes linked to bogus City Power officials increasing, residents have become distrustful of meter readers asking to gain access to their properties.

Most residents are no longer opening their gates for City officials to read meters, which hampers the work of the bona fide City officials.

The spokesperson for City Power, Isaac Mangena, reiterated the warning to residents to be vigilant and refuse access to any person claiming to be from City Power without first verifying their credentials with City Power.

City Power technicians must have an identity card with a photo, identity numbers, verification number, expiry date, hologram and contact numbers.

To verify credentials with City Power’s Risk Control Unit, contact them on 011 490 7911, 011 490 7553 or 011 490 7900.
