Don’t miss Silverstar’s hot winter specials

The West Rand’s favourite entertainment destination, Silverstar, is heating up winter with loads of entertainment and give-aways this season.

The complex will be bringing soulful Sunday musical sessions, traditional Bavarian fare, hilarious comedy and a massive R2,7 million in cash to give away in the Cash is King promotion, this season.

Bavarian Christmas Festival

The open parking area at Silverstar will be transformed into a typical Bavarian town square, complete with a traditional Oompah band. Warm up with mouth-watering Bavarian delicacies such as eisbein and Bratwurst, a full selection of cold beverages, and popular winter cuppas such as glühwein and hot chocolate.

A village market will be available for the townsfolk, complete with various exhibitors, an amusement park, photos with Santa and roaming buskers. This family-friendly event will take place from Thursday, 27 June to Sunday, 30 June. Tickets are R60 per person, children under 12 enter free of charge. (NOTE: Entry to the market is free for kids, but tickets for the rides are sold at the rides),

Sunday Soul Sessions

What better way to spend your Sunday afternoon than listening to your favourite classic R&B and solid gold tracks at Silverstar’s monthly Sunday Soul Sessions. These soothing afternoons are hosted by Ernest Pillay and feature Metro FM’s Wilson B Nkosi and Msizi Shembe and Bambo Johnson from Radio 2000.

Visit Silverstar every last Sunday of the month, starting on Sunday, 30 June from 12pm to 10pm. Get your tickets from Computicket at R200,00 per person – no under 18s.

Dry White – Nik Rabinowitz

Nik Rabinowitz, Africa’s funniest Jew, has toured internationally in Holland, Australia, Canada, the United States of America and the United Kingdom, where he’s appeared at The Royal Albert Hall and on BBC2’s Mock the Week. He presented The Week that Wasn’t on Radio 702 for eight years, starred in the International Emmy-nominated ZA News, and is internationally recognised as the world’s leading Xhosa-speaking Jewish legspinner.

Nik decided to explore Cape Town’s water crisis for his show, Dry White, mostly because everyone thought the drought was going to last forever, which in case you missed it #SpoilerAlert, it didn’t. After Mother Nature rained on his parade, Nik was forced to discuss other stuff too, like love, marriage, infidelity, transphobia, staying awake post forty and when the land should be given back. After a five-year absence, his return to Silverstar promises to be a comedy riot.

The show takes place on Saturday, 29 June. The doors open at 7pm, with the show starting at 8pm. Tickets are R140 per person. No under 14s will be allowed to attend.
