Home Affairs Roodepoort Office is operational

The temporary closure was due to a burglary that took place on Sunday, 19 May.

The Department of Home Affairs wishes to notify residents that the Roodepoort office is once again operational. This comes after the office had to be temporarily closed due to a burglary on Sunday, 19 May. Among other items, 19 computers were stolen.

“The Roodepoort office is operational. In spite of the break-in, officials have been on-site assisting people who had urgent requests and advising on alternative services at nearby Home Affairs offices. We are working on replacing the rest of the computers to enable the office to receive new applications for smart ID cards and passports. These will only be processed once this issue has been sorted out. However, citizens can collect documents they’ve applied for, including smart ID cards and passports. All requests for certificates for births, marriages and deaths are also being attended to,” said David Hlabane, the Media Manager for the Department of Home Affairs.
