Cyclist dies after being hit by a van on Ontdekkers
Willem will be sorely missed by his family, friends, patients and the community as a whole.
The community, family and friends are mourning the death of the late Willem Fourie, owner of a private physiotherapy practice in Roodepoort.
The 68-year-old Willem died on Sunday morning, 4 May, after he was knocked down by a panel van while cycling on Ontdekkers Road near Mouton Road in Horison.

Paramedics from ER24 arrived on the scene alongside other emergency services, where they found Willem lying in the middle of the road. He had sustained critical injuries and was placed on life support. An emergency medical helicopter was called to airlift him to hospital for further care where he succumbed to his injuries.
The exact circumstances surrounding the collision are not yet known, but local authorities were on the accident scene to conduct investigations.
First Help paramedics stated that Willem’s bicycle was completely destroyed, and the side of the van was damaged.

His fields of professional practice include the identification and treatment of playing- and work-related injuries in musicians and office workers; the treatment and rehabilitation of the full range of musculoskeletal problems experienced after the surgical and radiotherapeutic treatment of breast and other cancers as well as lymphoedema; treatment and rehabilitation of general acute and chronic musculoskeletal problems after joint replacements, injury, or general overuse and ageing.
