City Power bullies residents

Tshepo Modiga from Witpoortjie writes:

City Power has every right to audit meters but what happens to pensioners when their meters are inside their premises and the auditors visit the premises only to find that there’s no one at home? Do they have a right to threaten my pensioner father with a piece of paper in the post box that reads: ” I was here to do the audit and there was no one. If I come again and still no one at home I’m going to cut off your electricity!!.

Can you really threaten an 83-year-old pensioner like that?

I’m the pensioner’s son and when I called the guy who was there for the audit to question him, his response was that City Power told them to do that.

My question is: Does City Power expect everyone to stay at home and not move while they are conducting this so-called audit? Why can’t they make appointments or visit over the weekends when everyone is around?
