Three wrestlers from the Danie van Zyl wrestling club made their coach proud at the recent South African Wrestling Championships.
The wrestlers competed in both the Freestyle and Greco-Roman categories, and manged to bag a total of six medals.
Christopher Schaper won two silver medals, Daniel Mashinini bagged a silver and a bronze, while Darren Dickman won a gold and a silver.
Darren was also invited to attend the Kristjan Palusalu Memorial Youth Wrestling Tournament which was held in Estonia. Here he managed to bag a bronze medal in the Greco-Roman category and came sixth in the Freestyle category.
Coach Danie Erasmus said that he was extremely proud of his wrestlers, and said, “Their hard work and dedication paid off, and they have the reward to show for it.”
