Elderly woman knocked over on Ontdekkers Road

The woman is believed to have been crossing the street.

A woman was knocked over on Ontdekkers Road this morning, at the intersection opposite Horizon View Shopping Centre.

The incident is believed to have taken place shortly after 7am this morning, 5 April, with the woman believed to have been crossing the road when she was struck. The woman, who lives in an old-age home in the immediate vicinity of the accident, was on a morning walk with a friend of hers.

The second woman was not hit by the vehicle, but the woman who was struck sustained moderate injuries according to Netcare 911 spokesperson Shawn Herbst. “She sustained what could possibly be a fractured ankle, and was transported to hospital for further treatment,” Herbst said.

JMPD and other local authorities were on scene to conduct their investigations shortly after the accident occurred.
