Horizon View teen receives big surprise for her birthday
She received tickets to watch Ed Sheeran’s show
Celebrating your 18th birthday is always a special occasion, but for a Horizon View teen it was just a little sweeter.
Nisha Chouhan was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma (HL) in 2017 – a type of lymphoma in which cancer originates from a specific type of white blood cell called lymphocytes. “I discovered this when I came across a huge mass on the left side of my neck. I had the mass in my neck for a little over six months but I didn’t think it was serious until I woke up from sleeping in the car on our way to Richard’s Bay at Christmas time and noticed its size had increased significantly.”

She tried to book a doctor’s appointment, but was told she had to wait six months. “However, when I mentioned I was in pain, they admitted me for urgent tests and I was diagnosed on 24 July 2017”.
She became a beneficiary of Cupcakes of Hope, a non-profit organisation that provides support and raises money for families fighting childhood cancer. Leanne Bekker from this organisation said, “Nisha completed a year’s treatment in July last year and is now in remission. But, we wanted to give her something special for her 18th birthday. We made her dream a reality and spoiled her with two tickets to Ed Sheeran’s concert.”
Nisha was overwhelmed when she received the tickets. “I love Ed and this was such a special, memorable experience my mom and I will never forget,” she said.
