Horison residents celebrate Human Rights Day in style
The day’s theme was 'Traditionally South African'
Community members and congregants used the opportunity to enjoy the sunny weather on Human Rights Day to support the Horison Methodist Church’s annual fundraising event.
The theme for the day was ‘Traditionally South African’, and visitors to the church could participate in a South African Food Festival.

There was a variety of stalls offering delicious traditional South African food, including samp and beans, vetkoek and mince, pancakes, curry and rice, and boerwors rolls, as well as desserts like milk tart and malva pudding, to name a few.
Visitors could also shop at the White Elephant table as well as a number of other stalls displaying products ranging from handmade dolls, jewellery, secondhand books to some unique handmade clocks and products made from matches.

The children were not forgotten, and they had the opportunity to have their faces painted and play on a number of jumping castles in the children’s play area, while their parents could take a breather in the tea garden.
Gladys Bell, one of the event’s organisers, said, “It was great to see all the support we received today. We are not a very big church and we are grateful to everyone who attended and helped to raise some much-needed money for the church.”
