With load-shedding taking a toll lately – and every one bearing the brunt of power outages, Ward 97 PR councillor, Ralf Bittkau, has advised motorists how to report a faulty traffic light correctly.
Most people are not aware that a faulty traffic light could be the responsibility of City Power or the Johannesburg Roads Agency (JRA), so Bittkau explained the difference.
“It would be helpful when you report a traffic light that is not working to state whether it’s totally dead or flashing,” he said.
He explained that when the traffic light is dead, it means it’s a City Power problem, but when it’s flashing, it becomes a JRA problem, as the flashing is mostly the result of a stolen sim card or faulty control box).
Report to City Power on 011 490 7000 and JRA 011 298 5000.
