Florida swimmers off to Nationals

The event will be taking place in Durban this year

Five swimmers from the Florida Swimming Club have qualified for the honour of representing Florida at the prestigious SA Junior National Championships.

The championships will be held in Durban this year, and will consist of five days of tough competition, where some of the best of South Africa’s swimming talent will be giving it all they have in their respective age categories.

“Because this is an inter-club tournament, swimmers will be representing their various clubs,” said Tracey Hemphill, the coach.

She added that they were looking forward to seeing what the swimmers will be achieving at the tournament.

“Danyal van der Schyff will be making his debut at this level and has qualified for both the 100m and 200m Freestyle events. Blake Godfrey, Ivan Beukes, Demi-Lee Carlisle and Amy O’Rourke will be awarded another cap at this level. They have qualified for participation in a number of events,” said Tracey.

She concluded by saying, “We expect good results from the swimmers, who have dedicated the last few months to training. They have worked extremely hard to ensure they will be at their very best during this tournament.”
