Students to resolve climate change
The Global Entrepreneurship Summer School strives to create a young generation of social entrepreneurs who are acutely aware of their responsibility towards global resources.
South African university students are being invited to join the world-wide fight against global warming.
LifeCo Unltd South Africa, in partnership with the Social Entrepreneurship Akademie, welcomes university students to attend the Global Entrepreneurship Summer School (GESS), to be held in Cape Town in September. The objective of this year’s school is to come up with viable, innovative businesses ideas to solve the challenges of dying coral reefs, acidification, dead zones and rising sea levels.
Carmen Di Rito, LifeCo UnLtd SA’s Chief Development Officer, said, “Global Entrepreneurship Summer School (GESS) strives to create a young generation of social entrepreneurs who are acutely aware of their responsibility towards global resource use and are able to create high-impact businesses that solve environmental pressures.”
A total of 140 students, 35 from South Africa, are expected to attend GESS, which will be hosted in four different locations: Cape Town; Querétaro (Mexico); Munich (Germany), and Shanghai (China).
GESS is based on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, which are broken down to address regional challenges for relevance. GESS Cape Town 2019 is endorsed by the Department of Higher Education and Training through the Entrepreneurship Development programme in Higher Education.
