Mushota Makungu has always had a dream to showcase her love for singing and dancing, and now has the opportunity to realise that dream.
Mushota, or Shosho as she is known to her family and friends, has loved to sing and dance from an early age. “After witnessing my idol, Viola Davis, win the Triple Crown of Acting (an Academy Award, an Emmy Award and a Tony Award), I was inspired to take up a career in acting,” she said.
She started her career with numerous leads in school plays and the choir and her hard work and determination were rewarded when she was afforded the opportunity to make her dreams come true. She explained, “I am extremely excited about the fact that I can go to the United States of America, where I will be showcasing my talents on the Applause Rising Talent Showcase (ARTS).”
ARTS is an initiative taking place in Orlando, Florida and will be in full swing from 3 to 9 July at the Marriot World Center in Orlando, Florida, where aspiring models, actors and actresses from different backgrounds will take the stage to perform in categories such as monologues, singing, dancing, improvisation and creative runway for some of the best managers and agents in the industry.
Some of the industry’s finest will be in attendance, including Atlantic Records, Tyler Perry Studios, Walt Disney Entertainment, Sony and VH1, to name a few.
“There will also be college recruiters and film academies in attendance, that will be offering bursaries to top performers,” Mushota said.
