Another busy weekend for Roodepoort Police

Suspects were incarcerated at different police stations.

Between 15 and 18 February, members of the police, along with their colleagues from the National Traffic Police and the Johannesburg Metro Police Department in the Johannesburg West Cluster, arrested 226 suspects in various parts of the Cluster.

The following police stations were involved in the arrests – Diepsloot, Douglasdale, Florida, Honeydew, Linden, Randburg and Roodepoort.

The suspects were arrested for different crimes, including unlawful possession of a firearm; unlawful possession of ammunition; rape; unlawful use or possession of drugs; common assault (under the Domestic Violence Act 108 of 1996); assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm (also under the Domestic Violence Act 108 of 1996); housebreaking (residential and business); possession of housebreaking implements; robbery with aggravating circumstances; common robbery, house and business robbery; theft; possession of suspected stolen property; fraud; malicious injury to property; driving whilst under the influence of alcohol; reckless and negligent driving; selling liquor without a licence, dealing in liquor without a licence; tampering with municipal/ essential infrastructure, contravening the National Road Traffic Act 93 of 1996; pedestrians as a source of danger on a national road (National Traffic Police); possession of dangerous weapons; illegal gambling; drinking in public; unlawful possession of precious metals; pointing of firearm; carjacking; possession of dagga in a public place; contravening the Liquor Act 59 of 2003; possession of a stolen motor vehicle, and murder. In addition, a vehicle that had been hijacked was recovered.

The suspects were incarcerated at the relevant stations.
