Rosemarie Koen, a resident of Helderkruin, has been left shattered by the theft of her driveway pot plants which were stolen in two separate incidents a couple of weeks ago.
The irate resident reported the incidents to the Roodepoort Police Station after viewing footage from her neighbour’s CCTV cameras that captured a person that appears to be a woman driving a light motor vehicle uprooting the cycads from the pots along the driveway.

The video depicted the woman walking around the driveway, uprooting the plants and stashing them in her car before driving away.
The Record is in possession of the footage, but cannot publish it as the matter is still under investigation.
According to Rosemarie, who believes there is a growing underground market for expensive plants, the first theft occurred on Saturday, 2 February and the second happened on the following Saturday, 9 February. Three plants, with a total value of R3 000 were stolen, according to the aggrieved owner.

“She [the thief] has to be stopped and people should know about the kind of person she is. When she is caught, I want her to come back and replant my cycads,” said Rosemarie as she crossed her fingers in the hope that the alleged perpetrator will be arrested.
Roodepoort Police spokesperson, Captain Juanita Yorke, said they were still busy with the investigation.
