Former Parkies invited to celebrate 50th reunion

The class of ’69 will catch up during lunch

Members of the 1969 matric class at Florida Park High School are invited to attend a 50th reunion lunch on 4 May.

The event will be held at the highly rated Casalinga Restaurant in Honeydew, and classmates from as far afield as the United States of America, Switzerland, Ireland, Cape Town and KwaZulu-Natal have already accepted the invitation.

According to the invitation there is a possibility that some of the teachers will be attending as well and Gail Ferguson, one of the organisers said, “Some people have expressed their reservations about attending on their own, but they do not need to worry about that as most of us will be alone – not just those who are single, but also those whose spouses and partners manage to wriggle out of attending.”

She added that help with transport and accommodation will also be arranged for those who need it, and said, “ Some of our classmates will be more than happy to volunteer a spare bedroom if necessary and those of you coming from other locations in South Africa may be able to join up and travel together.”

The organising team will be meeting again on 9 February and Gail urged interested parties to try and respond before then, as it will make planning a bit easier.

“I just have one more request. If you are still in contact with old classmates, please ensure they know about the function and encourage them to attend. Do not miss this event; there will be good food, good company and you will have a good time,” Gail concluded.
