JRA to prioritise on fixing all potholes

The safety of road users is JRA’s priority.

Motorist can look forward to driving on roads without any potholes as the Johannesburg Roads Agency (JRA) is embarking on providing a well maintained and safe road infrastructure.

JRA’s Managing Director, Goodwill Mbatha, recently stated that some of the roads are damaged by potholes that need urgent attention and a substantial number of roads have deteriorated to such an extent that it has to be reconstructed.

According to Mbatha, JRA is aware of the number of potholes on the city’s roads. The recent heavy downpours accelerated the formation of potholes in areas where the road surface has aged. To effectively repair the potholes, the road surface must be dry. The process of road surfacing drying typically takes approximately three days after the last downpour. The JRA will repair the potholes as soon as the road surface is dry. Furthermore, JRA will continue to monitor and make safe the areas where there are potholes.

“The JRA endeavours to address road-related maintenance issues as effectively as possible. The safety of road users is JRA’s priority. JRA apologises to all road users for the inconvenience caused,” said Mbatha. For more information, log on to JRA’s website on https://www.jra.org.za.
