Since Monday commuters relying on Metrobus have been left stranded. Members of trade union Demawusa went on strike, citing a number of grievances.
According to Metrobus spokesperson, Goodwill Shivuri, “Two of Metrobus’ major trade unions were supposed to render the much-needed services to minimise the impact of the strike. Unfortunately, due to minor acts of intimidation, non-striking personnel were unable to perform their mandatory duties, leading to a complete shutdown of the Metrobus service. Metrobus management is continuing to solicit a lasting solution to the problem to ensure services return to normality as a matter of urgency.”
