Police tips for shopping mall visits

Make sure you know which car guard patrols in the area near your vehicle.

In the light of two separate incidents where vehicles were stolen at two shopping malls in broad daylight on Wednesday (2 January), the Record has decided to publish these tips from Roodepoort Police regarding shopping mall visits.

• Make sure your vehicle is positively locked by feeling the door handles. If you leave too hastily car jammers might use the opportunity to unlock your vehicle again.

• Put your valuables in the boot to avoid theft from the vehicle.

• Make sure you know which car guard patrols in the area near your vehicle, introduce yourself and show him/ her your vehicle.

• If your vehicle is stolen or broken into, report it to the police immediately.
