Roodepoort businesswoman spreads festive cheer at Cradle of Hope

Everyone enjoyed a delicious Christmas meal

Roodepoort businesswoman, author and multiple business award winner, Ronél Harris made Christmas a little bit better for the residents of the Cradle of Hope recently.

Ronél, who has been the ambassador for the Cradle of Hope for many years, spread some festive cheer when she visited the home and treated everyone to a delicious Christmas meal.

The tables were beautifully set, complete with decorations, Christmas crackers, mince pies and gifts for everyone, setting the scene for a wonderful afternoon of festivities. The delight could be seen on all the faces and the gratitude was evident.

Ronél made sure that everyone at the home, including the staff (who work tirelessly to run the place) received a gift, which she personally handed out. She also presented a special gift, along with a generous donation, to the founder of the Cradle of Hope, Melodie van Brakel.

Ronel said, “Thank you, Melodie, for the wonderful work you do with the women and children at the Cradle, you have blessed so many women who would not otherwise have survived.”

Ronel was also a victim of abuse as a child, and has survived much poverty and heartache growing up, which is why Cradle of Hope is her chosen charity, and she often gets involved in various fundraising events for them.

“Growing up, I always told myself that one day, when I am a successful business woman, I want to help abused women and children, and now I am living my dream by helping others because of what I have been through. This is my way of giving back,” Ronél said.

The day’s activities were concluded with Ronél giving each woman n autographed copy of her book, in order for them to be encouraged and help them to rise above their situation.

Melodie thanked Ronel from the bottom of her heart and said, “We always look forward to having you here, as we know how much we are spoilt. Also, thank you for including the staff in the festivities – they usually get overlooked, but they deserve the spoils just as much as the women and children do.”
