A sincere thank you to the community

Thank you to my editor, Roelien Vorster, for shaping me into the journalist that I am today.

Lungi Ndimande writes:

I want to say a sincere thank you for welcoming me as your community journalist this past year.

On 2 January this year, I started my new job as a community journalist, covering municipal and general news. You know what they say about time that goes by fast? Yes! it has been a good, fun and learning year.

A thank you goes to Caxton Joburg West for taking me in and making me part of the family. We all know that family is not always blood. It is the people in your life who want you to be in their lives, the ones who accept you for who you are. The ones who would do almost anything to see you succeeding and happy. That is the kind of love I receive from my colleagues.

Thank you to my editor, Roelien Vorster, for shaping me into the journalist that I am today. I still remember in our very first meeting you said, “I am going to make a journalist out of you” and with all your leadership, mentorship and the love that you have given me, I can say that you have succeeded.

And to the community at large, thank you for giving me your time by reading my articles on-line and every Thursday in the newspaper. Your time is so valuable to me because it’s something that cannot be bought and it’s something that cannot be regained.

I wish you a safe and Merry Christmas and to those who are travelling, I wish you travelling mercies. To those who are staying home, enjoy the peaceful Joburg, with very little traffic and empty malls, because everyone will be back soon, and it will be back to normal again.
