Residents are urged to use water sparingly

Residents are not allowed to wash paved areas and driveway using hose pipes as per City by-laws.

 

Rand Water urges residents to respect the by-laws regarding the level one water restrictions which are currently in place.

Rand Water has imposed water supply restrictions to resident residing within the City of Johannesburg. MMC of Environmental, infrastructure and Service Delivery councillor Nico De Jager appeals to customers to continue to use water sparingly and monitor main household water guzzlers such as: shower and baths, toilet flushing, washing machines or dishwashers.

Nico De Jager also mentioned the below tips on living a healthy and clean lifestyle while using water sparingly.

Residents can achieve a high level of personal hygiene with relatively small amounts of water by using a bucket splash.

Use grey water that you have collected from your laundry, “bucket splash”, dishes or other sources to flush your toilet.

The average dishwashers use as much as 15 liters of water for full wash cycle. Rather use a maximum of litters of water for the kitchen sink.

Watering of gardens is not allowed between 6am and 6pm in summer months. Residents are not allowed to wash paved areas and driveway using hose pipes as per City by-laws.

Residents are urged to report those who do not follow this law on 011 758 9650 and report water and sanitation problems on 011 375 5555.
