Recycling was the buzz word during the West Rand Toastmasters’ last meeting for 2018, and everyone present participated with gusto.
The meeting was called to order by Sergeant-At-Arms, Ernest Watkins, whereafter Esther Dreyer officially started the proceedings.
The Vice-President: Public Relations, Glen Campbell, welcomed the members and guests and explained the evening’s theme to them, “Because 15 November was National Recycling Day in America, we decided that our theme for this meeting will focus on recycling, and the various ways it can be done.”
The Table Topics role was taken on by Jessica Grib, who chose to start off with a story that each member had to continue with, which proved to be very successful, and created much mirth among the members.
Alwyn van Wyngaarden was the Joke Master, and ensured that everyone was laughing so much that they forgot all about their stress.
Glen Campbell gave a speech based on the Second World War, and Johannes Grib presented his final speech for Competent Communicator, and was congratulated by all for achieving his first milestone.
Stephanie Greenwood received the trophies for both the Best Contributor as well as the Best Impromptu Speech.
The next meeting will take place on 17 January 2019, at the Discovery Bowling Club, Lucas Avenue, Discovery. It will start at 6.30pm.
