The Unified AMG team took second place in an F1 in Schools competition the first time they entered.
F1 in Schools is an educational competition that promotes Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM), sponsored by Sangari, in collaboration with Land Rover, that aims to help build the future engineers of our country as well as the world. It is an international competition as there are many countries involved.

The competitors were required to design an F1 car on software which is provided by the F1 in Schools competition organisers.
The learners also had to design a pit display and enterprise portfolio, design and manufacture portfolios, find sponsors, design and purchase a uniform, as well as do their own marketing through social media, all while ensuring they stay within their budget.
The team, called Unified AMG, consisted of Ababalwe Duke, team manager, Mhlaliseni Maphumulo, team graphic designer, Siyamukela Madela team resource manager and Banele Ndlovu, team CAD.
Ababalwe said the competition was difficult because it was the first time they participated in the competition. “We had a problem with time management. It was slow at first and then we had to rush to finish the project. Although we aimed for first place, we are happy with the second place. We were really excited and shared our accomplishment on social media,” he said.
