Taxi and car collide at accident hot spot

Taxi allegedly skipped the stop street.

Today (15 November) at 7.25am, yet another accident occurred at the intersection of Generaal Pienaar Avenue and Ham Street.

The intersection is right opposite the Record’s offices and employees have lost count of the number of accidents that have occurred at the accident hot spot over the years. Pleas to the authorities to have something done have also fallen on deaf ears.

This morning, a taxi was travelling on Ham Street in the direction of Corlett Avenue when its driver allegedly ignored the stop sign. When they realised that they were going to collide, both the taxi driver and a woman travelling on Generaal Pienaar Avenue swerved but the taxi still collided with the car. The taxi ended up in the little garden in front of the Engen garage.

When the Record visited the scene, it seemed that no serious injuries had occurred.
