Riverleigh’s Elephants Alive fundraiser postponed to Sunday

The Centre's 15th Fancy Dress Freestyle Festival and Elephants Alive fundraiser will now take place on 21 October.

The celebration of the Riverleigh International Equestrian Centre’s 15th anniversary of its annual Fancy Dress Freestyle Festival has been postponed to Sunday, 21 October due to inclement weather last week.

The show, which consists of equestrian enthusiasts performing for charity, will take place at the Riverleigh International Equestrian Centre, 179 Valley Drive, Muldersdrift. The charity benefiting from this is Elephants Alive.

The annual show was inspired by the passion and emotion of the sport, and is an age-old tradition that is being kept alive. Participants in the show will be performing a sequence of movements ridden in time to music, as seen in Olympic events.

Gauteng equestrians spend months preparing and planning choreography, music and costumes, ensuring a lively, festive atmosphere, with various performances such as Musical Kur, auctions of donated goods and shows in between the judged competitions.

Participants come from all over Gauteng to compete for the floating and special trophies at this prestigious event that promises to be a wonderful and entertaining day out in the country for equine enthusiasts, animal lovers and families alike.

Visitors can enjoy a picnic on the lawn or make use of the provided catering. To ensure everyone enjoys the day, there will be a variety of stalls to browse through.
