Illegal revelry at Lake has residents up in arms
Metro Police dispersed party.
Florida Lake residents are hot under the collar after an illegal street party was held in Swan Street on Sunday, 7 October.
The party allegedly started at about 1pm but the revellers were dispersed at about 7pm by Metro Police. According to residents complaining on social media, Swan Street was ‘closed off’ and vehicles were parked in all the streets leading into Swan Street, ‘the noise was unbearable’, and litter was left everywhere afterwards. It is also said that attendees were ‘camping out’ on the sidewalks in front of residents’ homes.
Early on Monday, the ICE Community Policing group posted a message on Facebook stating “So we have had a numerous amount of response regarding the post on the mess made this weekend at the Florida lake. We have also been shown who the organisers were and we will name and shame them. In future we as community of Florida will not accept this kind of behaviour. We will expose any and all that come to our area and do this kind of thing and leave. We will also stand together as a massive community and drive you out when you play your loud music in front of our residents homes and if you are smoking or taking drugs. Let this message go out to all that use our area. The community is g****l so to speak. And we will not accept this no longer”.

A few hours later it transpired that the event was allegedly organised by an organisation called Stance Universe and that the party was billed as the Final Florida Park-off #CampStance. They in turn posted a message on ICE Community Policing’s page saying “To the community of the Lake. We are putting together a clean-up team to assist with the cleaning of the streets”.
The Record is in the process of obtaining comment from Stance Universe as well as the DA Ward councillor, Caleb Finn.
