Going beyond the call of duty

D Murray from Wilro Park writes:

We awoke on 21 September to a fountain of water spurting from our pavement.

The matter was reported to Joburg Water and I received a reference number. A few minutes later I heard the sound of hooting at my gate and there I found a Joburg Water truck (I couldn’t believe my good luck at receiving such prompt service). It turns out that Jacob and Solly were driving past on their way to another emergency and noticed our ‘water feature’.

After telling them that the matter was reported and we were awaiting a response, Jacob contacted his supervisor to see if someone was already assigned this job. It turned out nobody was. These two men told me that my issue was more urgent than the job they were on their way to and would try and trace the root of the problem.

Within 20 minutes the faulty stop cock was replaced and there was no longer a stream flowing down Wag ‘n Bietjie Road.

A HUGE thank you to Jacob and Solly for going beyond the call of duty.
