Lantern learners showcase their talents at Raca

They participated in the competition for the first time this year

 

Learners from Lantern School entered the Raca Eisteddfod for LSEN schools for the first time this year, and did very well.

They had 100 learners who participated in the Drama, Dancing and Vocal sections. They entered 53 items and managed to win a total of 53 certificates – three gold (85 to 89 per cent), 21 platinum (90 to 94 per cent) and 29 diamond (95 per cent and above).

In the art categories, there were 28 art pieces entered for which they were awarded a total of 28 certificates – two gold (85 to 89 per cent), six platinum (90 to 94 per cent) and 20 diamond (95 per cent and above).

Hardus du Preez, a Grade 8 learner, received three diamond certificates for poetry, prose and monologue. Juanyse van Staden, another Grade 8 learner, received three diamond certificates for monologue, ballroom and Latin dancing. She also received a platinum and a gold certificate for her artwork.
