Donations stream in for Drop a pair campaign
Another 30 pairs received during the week
The ‘Drop a pair and show you care’ campaign is slowly gathering momentum, with another 30 pairs received during the last week.
Adielah Johnson, the Get It SPAR Women’s Challenge Joburg Face of the Race 2018 wishes to collect 500 pairs of running shoes by the end of September, which will be donated to underprivileged runners. So far, approximately 72 pairs have been collected.

She has received quite a substantial donation from the Florida Running Club, which has issued a challenge to all other West Rand-based running clubs to contribute. “We as Florida Running Club challenge the other clubs to join this worthy initiative. Let’s see how many pairs of shoes we can collect,” said Laurie Lewis from the club.

Club members, as well as members of the community who would like to join in on this initiative, can bring their donations to the club every Tuesday evening from 5.30pm. “There will be a box for donations until the end of September. The club is situated on Jan Hofmeyr Avenue, Florida Park,” said Adielah.

Running shoes that are still in a good condition, can also be dropped off at the Caxton office, on the corner of Generaal Pienaar Avenue and Ham Street, Witpoortjie.
