Motorvehicle theft on the rise in Roodepoort
Make sure your vehicle is parked in a safe place
Sergeant Juliet Mogale, the Roodepoort Police spokesperson, is warning community members to be vigilant about vehicle theft.
“We have seen an increased incidence of motor vehicle theft, and want the community to be careful,” she said.

To avoid becoming a victim, she shared the following tips:
• When parking your vehicle, you should not park it on the pavement or outside the property. Ensure your vehicle is parked inside the property, and that gates are locked.
• After parking your vehicle, you should ensure all doors are locked (walk around the car and physically feel each door handle) and windows should be closed.
• Do not leave any valuables inside the vehicle, for example on the car seat, to avoid theft out of motor vehicle.
She concluded by saying, “Should you see any suspicious looking vehicles driving around in the vicinity, do not hesitate to contact the police on the following numbers; 10111, 011 279 6400 or 082 498 9464.
